Nintendo applying for anti-Palworld patents in the US "they are fighting

Nintendo just hates that Palworld is competing for the mon type game, but in truth.... palworld isn't really in the same class of game.

Might be time for Nintendo to learn.... not everyone is going to bend over and taking it from them.

Palworld can challenge the awarded patents and even if they fail there, the courts might simply award Nintendo a trivial remedy, say replacing the balls with something else and $1 damages. Some judges hate petty bullies.

Yeah, I don't think I can ever support Nintendo again after how they've tackled this situation. They've always been anti consumer and way too protective of their IP (to the point of horror stories over fan art postings), but this type of behavior risks damaging the art of game development itself and the entire industry. Patenting a mechanic is ridiculous and beyond that they're trying to patent more of a concept. Palworld is hardly the first pokemon inspired game and it's one of the least like it. They just see a target because of Palworld's success and want to that as a springboard to pretend they're defending themselves as they start us down a spiral there is no returning from. It'll be an absolute hellscape if this goes through and publishers start trying to patent every mechanic under the sun.

What frustrates me is how much Nintendo gets away with this BS. If this was Microsoft the story would spread like wild fire with numerous headlines chastising the company. When it's Nintendo this just an asterisk. People remainlu blissfully ignorant or become willfully complicit and choose to ignore it. In fact I've seen some conversations er toward Palworld deserving still thinking this is about the monster designs. Legally speaking this year has started off pretty terrible. We're really just taking giant leaps backwards🤦🏿‍♂️.
