Why can I not just add a contact with out windows live or Facebook coming up? Am I missing something? I have quite a few people who don't belong to either. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Not sure if I am understanding you correctly.
If you are adding a contact, you will have to add it to an existing account. Windows phone does not gave any account that is a dedicated phone account only. Any contact you are adding will be linked to your default 'cloud' based service. This would be windows live by default.

I just Didn't understand why it was making my contacts windows live contacts,when they are not. I am used to android phones with simple address/contact apps lol. Thank you.
