Nokia just release a chart comparing flagships.

I like Nokia, I will get a Lumia 920 asap, but they 're not honest with this chart.

Their nokia maps is just ridiculous. Look at their Japan map for example.
Here is Tokyo: Nokia Maps - City and Country Maps - Driving Directions - Satellite Views - Routes

They are honest, you just didn't quite understand them!

Nokia is talking about the navigational maps (used by Nokia Drive). Using Nokia Drive, you can't get Japanese maps, because Nokia fully admits their mapping data for Japan doesn't reach their expected quality standards (yet).

Using Nokia Maps however, they show you everything they've got on record. In the case of Japan, that certainly is far from complete, but that isn't what they are talking about in that post!

For those countries where Nokia Drive does have maps, the mapping data is the best in the business bare none.

Ok honest is not the good word. I would have rather said "they should keep a low profile when talking about map and comparing with others".

It's not like we're talking about a small village lost in mountains. It's a capital ! :dry
"doesn't reach their expected quality standards (yet)."
It's about time ! People complained about that on their support forum since 2008 already.

(Sorry for my english)

Hey tr1ckyboy, your English is fine. No problem.

Yes, well, I guess it depends how you evaluate these things. For most of the western world, Nokia has the best maps in the business. Better than any other company, including Google. I do think that is something to be proud of. I don't think they need to keep a low profile. Not all of the competitors are necessarily better either.

Nokia at least admits their Japan maps aren't suitable for navigation.

Anyway, I agree it would be great to get Japanese navigational maps done. I'm guessing Nokia just isn't very popular over there (most consumers buy Sony or Panasonic), so just keeping Japanese maps updated is likely to cost much more than what they could earn by offering them. That is likely what is holding them back.
