Nokia Lumia 520 from TigerDirect -- "SIM invalid" on H2O cards?

I got the Nokia Lumia 520 (AT&T GoPhone, model RM-915) from TigerDirect. The phone recognized the provided AT&T micro sim card right away. But when I inserted the H2O card purchased from Amazon, the phone kept saying: "SIM invalid". The Amazon vendor was quite nice to send me another micro sim card, but it still got the "SIM invalid" message. Just wondering if anyone out there is having the same problem? Any suggestion on solving it? Thank you!

BTW, is there a way to disable the vibration for the capacitive buttons? Or to customize them?

The phone is not unlocked. It is an AT&T phone. You need the unlock code, a couple of bucks from blowfishunlocks. An hour after you order you'll get a 20 digit code and all will be wonderful.

Since H2O is one of the MVNOs using AT&T's network, there should be no need to unlock an AT&T GoPhone in order to use the H2O sim. Right?

SIM invalid means it needs to be unlocked or that sim is bad and you've had it replaced once.... But I would try another SIM from a friend's (T Mobile etc not AT&T) phone until a box appears where you can add a PIN and a message that says something like you have 10 tries to unlock the phone that should also happen when you put a different carriers SIM in. If it just says SIM invalid try another SIM until you get that message OR it's unlocked and if it's unlocked then it will accept another carriers SIM. Or that replacement SIM is bad but I'd find another SIM from another carrier first and if that SIM is a working SIM then the message to enter a code will appear with the warning of 10 attempt or it will accept that SIM if it's unlocked.
a Question?
Is MNNO using ATT network or on ATT network? if I set my T Mobile phone to connect to a network and ATT is stronger I can connect but I'm just roaming and I'm using ATT not on ATT.

Yup, H2O sim cards do work in Nokia Lumia 520 (AT&T GoPhone model) without the need to unlock the phone first. This was the problem: the AT&T sim card that came with the phone was pre-activated, but not the H2O card, so it needed to be activated first before plugged in. Boy, did I feel silly!

How to activate Locked Nokia Lumia 520 AT&T Wireless GoPhone on H2O Wireless.

First of all, if you insert an H2O micro SIM that is not activated, you will get an "invalid sim" message on the Nokia Lumia 520 phone. Also, the Signal Bars signal symbol will be grayed out and covered with a circle with a line through it.

This is normal. To make this error message go away and get a Signal Bars display, you have to buy an airtime card, and activate the H2O micro SIM and Nokia Lumia 520 Phone IMEI number on the H2O Website.

To get the phone working, you have to do the following:

1. First, get an H2O micro SIM. Make sure to get a SIM that says "SMART SIM". (I got mine on Amazon for $ 1.00).

2. Next, go to Calling Mart, register and create an account then buy an H2O airtime card (either a minute plan or a monthly plan). You can activate the phone with as little as a $10 - 200 minute/90 day card.

You will need the PIN number from your purchase in order to activate the SIM and Phone on the H2O Wireless website. The PIN number will be displayed at checkout and will also be emailed to you.

3. Next, go to the H2O Wireless website, and create an account. Finally, activate the SIM, Phone IMEI and enter the minutes card PIN number. After filling out the online Activation form, your new H2O phone number will be displayed and emailed to you.

Insert the H2O sim in the phone, and turn on the phone. H2O wireless will activate the sim and phone. Any "invalid SIM" error message will go away and the phone will display Signal Bars. It should then be able to receive and make phone calls.

H2O will send you an instant message, "The terminal cannot be configured remotely, please contact Customer support for further assistance". This just means you have to enter the APN information manually.

Here's how to enter the APN info:

On the Nokia Lumia 520 phone, Go to:

-SETTINGS:

-CELLULAR+SIM

-SIM SETTINGS

-ADD MMS APN

Enter the following info:

APN: att.mvno
USER NAME: (leave blank)
PASSWORD: (leave blank)
AUTHENTICATION TYPE: (grayed out - PAP)
WAP GATEWAY (URL): proxy . mvno . H2Omobileweb . com (make sure the "O" in H2O is a capital letter, not number)
WAP GATEWAY PORT: 80
MMSC (URL): h t t p : / / mmsc . cingular . com /
MMSC PORT: 80
MAXIMUM MMS SIZE: 300
