really a wild question here... :excited: anyone thought of using this method in installing other firmware to your phone? i have lumia 810 and been thinking if lumia 820 firmware could work to 810.. they are pretty much same specification wise that's why i get to think about it... in some threads like lumia 920, they manage to install other firmware(product code) though same model.

Use the following site to check your product code and download the firmware manually from Nokia care suite by using the product code.

I flashed mine with German rom from this thread and went on fine but I wouldn't recommend you flash a European version rom on to a US version phone it will probably brick the phone.

Question: After flashing, does the variant of the phone change?

Yes it will change, mine was EE before now it is 000-DE because of the German rom but it will download the language anyway once you change it to for e.g. English it will download the language and restart phone it will also pick up your provider settings automatically this is what it did on my Lumia 820.

Edit: it will be named differently on phone(about section) but your phone will still have the same product code as it did originally which cannot be changed.
