Patch Tuesday - Updates are live

I have this little prayer that MS has their 2 most intelligent people in a hole somewhere attempting to inject some real performance into this machine.
yes in a way they are because they are working to get the 5th battery saving core going so they can turn the others off when it is suspended.

Have noticed a definite increase in flash performance, especially in videos. I used to have instances of flash quitting or failing to load on sites (which required a browser close and reopen) and occasional slow, choppy video in ads such as YouTube. It seems smooth as butter now.

awesome. this is a fixe I was hoping for!

not surprised to see MS announcing they are pushing out more Surfaces through major retailers once they ironed out most of the major bugs and user interface ones. This is gonna be great. Updating now!

Apps do seem to load a tad faster. And video performance is great, though I didn't have much issues before.

I used to have poor WiFi reception at the hospital; too bad I'm done with my clerkships for this year and won't be going back to test it any time soon.

I haven't noticed any significant performance increase. What I was really hoping for was some resolution to my WiFi problems which also wasn't the case. Still plagued by 6Mbps max speed on N networks and 20Mbps on G networks.

wow, Ok so from my own personal experience having used the surface everyday for documents and web surfing and just general consumption use at home, the patch made the whole thing a whole lot more snappy. There is almost no lag on wakeup, unlock, swiping, and the whole interface feels a lot tighter (that's what he said). But really I don't know specifically what they did but after the updates and the two restarts the surface is really snappy for me. Now it's even more enjoyable yay!

have you tried changing the channels on your router?

have you tried changing the channels on your router?

I had dinked around with my two routers at home for hours trying changing just about every setting I could with no success. I just spent since I posted the above until now playing around again and I seem to have resolved the problem simply by stopping use of DD-WRT in favor of the latest builds of Tomato... Safe to say, my problem was not Surface related despite how no other devices in the house (iPhone, iPad, WP8, AppleTV, Xbox, 2x PC, 2x Laptop) experienced the same problem.

that's what I thought. I have an HP computer with an Atheros chipset in it and it won't connect to 5Ghz N unless I drop the channel to 40, the higher channels will not work.
