PC directory vs OneDrive files

I have a PC with Windows 10 and OneDrive account. I am finding that there is a discrepancy between the files shown on the PC directory and those which can be accessed from https://onedrive.live.com. There are many more files show on the latter than the former. Why is the PC missing so many files?

You choose, in ondrive settings, what folders/files you want on to sync from OneDrive to your PC.

Ah, thanks. I remember doing that at some point but had forgotten.

One more question: Why would the file 'mabword 2018.01.12' be on the PC but not in OneDrive?
