Pen capability

Does anyone know if the pen buttons can also act as a remote device to advance PowerPoint slides? I plan on using the SP3 for this purpose when I travel and wonder if the pen will work instead of plugging in an external USB pointer...and what would the range be?

I saw a YouTube video you could customize the pen's button via a Ghost Event software.
But it might only has one function (no going back).
