People like Windows Phone

...My only regret is that I can't say I was a first Generation WP owner like a lot of you can say you are. I would like to be able to brag about being there from the beginning....
I find that flattering but to be perfectly honest, those were some rough times pre-NoDO and pre-Mango, man. I prefer not to brag about it, LOL!

Almost daily a friend of mine is bugging me about getting an Iphone... It's just all good fun and we always end up in a good battle of nonsense arguments about each platform...

But if we get down to the serious part... He always says that he would go for WP if he had to choose something else than Iphone, but as long as he has Iphone as an availability he _has_ to choose Iphone...

The simple explanation being:
He has invested into the Iphone ecosystem for almost 3 years soon. Several hundreds of dollars into apps, games and obscure periphernalia... He wouldn't want to start from 0 with such a young and yet unproven (yes I know, I think WP is the best out there... But it is honestly an untested platform which has alot to proove when it gains any marketshare) platform. We have very little traction with operators to give us any notice, no hardware support from hardware manufacturers to create 100's and 100's of cases which would make WP stand out from Android (People see how much support Iphone gets through how many additional hardware options there are besides the phone) and so on...

If only Microsoft started to bribe the salespeople anytime soon, I'm sure they'd stop pushing whatever they get the most money from and start pushing the platform that has a standing chance to compete with Ios.

Just my two cents.

Yeah this is nice, but the problem is that Android and iOS aren't going anywhere anytime soon. WP is going to have a hard time winning over a good portion of those people. On the other hand, there are still many people who don't have a smartphone. MS should focus on those people.

As far as investing in an ecosystem, I can understand that. I invested some money (not a lot) in Android apps. I didn't want to lose all of those. The great thing is that I have had an Asus Transformer for about 6 months and I can still use all my apps on that. So now I don't feel like those apps are going to waste. Some people may do the same with iOS. Get a WP and keep using their paid apps on their iPad. Who knows.

Hopefully the guys/girls who have invested heavily in the Android eco-system will switch over to WP after they get a Windows 8 computer which looks like it will run their Android-apps fullscreen. :)
