Phone heating up on using mobile data

I generally use Wi-Fi but I have been using mobile data for the past few days. The phone has been heating up and battery is draining drastically. A five minute WhatsApp video call dropped my battery percentage from 26 to 6. The back started heating up and I couldn't hold the phone in one hand for more than 10 seconds. This is ridiculous. Since I use Wi-Fi at home It's no problem but when traveling I have to use mobile data and I can't afford to lose charge so fast. Anyone facing a similar problem? Any solution would be appreciated.

Have you tried hard resetting the phone?

Have tried hard reset before but hasn't really helped.
