Phone screen only shows static!!!?!! HELP Please

I had just been using my Nokia Lumia 1020 with the new 8.1 update. I had left open a webpage I was going to go back to (running on wifi, not my data). Pushed the power button to wake it up and now all I see or can do is view a static screen. It flashes on and off by itself ever so often. This sucks. Has anyone else had this? what should I do?:unhappysweat::unhappysweat::crying::crying:

I know this is going to sound stupid, but have you tried to force a restart?

Soft reset? Hold power and volume down button until you feel a vibration.
