Since this weeks update to Version 1703 Build 15063.608 my HP-X360 convertible has become slow as molasses. I took a look in task manager and found that the "Photos" app is continiously using any CPU time that is not used by other processes. It is always using between 25 and 65%. Mind you, the app is not even opened! CPU usage stays at 100% al the time due to this. Any suggestions?

The photo's app has intelligent search options now, so its grinding away at deciphering all your pictures. You'll notice a search box in the upper right side with a small progress meter.

This is happening to me on the creators update on my SP4.

Is this supposed to happen all the time or until the search indexing complete?

The runtime broker is now getting paired with the photos app on my task manager and killing my cpu quite often. Now i know what this runtime broker is for.

And what is the runtime broker doing on my SP4 BTW? Everytime in the last year I have to end the process whenever I hear the fens running high, because of that process.

Is this what you mean?

Sucks....

Will a Windows Reset help with this one? It can drain full battery almost in an hour...

Yes. Of you drop down on the photos app on your first picture of task manager, you'll see the runtime broker hiding in there.

I wonder if a reset will help with this one.
