Thanks for all your help in choosing new mods to join our team.

With that I introduce to you our new team members o Aperture o, a5cent and snowmutt!

Congratulations and welcome to all of you!

We will help you get started, and I know you will be great additions to our team.

Welcome to the team, guys! Great to see you here. If you have any questions or anything we don't bite

Thanks to Laura for the kind nomination and James for making it happen. Just came in from work to see that Ive been given keys to the washroom. Ill give a better introduction later on and take a look around at how things are done here.

Thanks again,

Pete

Wow, wasn't expecting 3 new mods all at once! Grats!

And yes, we are very generous with Likes/Thanks in here.

Well, the way Laura asked made it hard to refuse

I hope I can live up to the high standards the existing mod team has set here at WPC. I think I've already caught on to the idea of thanking and liking each post in the mod forum. Hope I catch on to the rest just as fast. lol ;-)

Look forward to working more closely with all of you going forward.

Take care

Hi guys,

I have a little time to sit down now, so thought I'd introduce myself properly.

I'm Pete, a 45 year old software developer from the UK and I've been using Windows Phone since the start of 7 - I still have my old Omni 7 upstairs in a cupboard somewhere.

I've been involved in forums since I hosted my own dial-up bulletin board service and Usenet groups, back in the days of squawky modems and huge phone bills. Seems like an awful long time ago now.

I've had a long history of forum moderation at another vbulletin forum (Photography-on-the.net) and I've moderated on the official Forza Motorsport forums for a year or so. A few of you may know that I'm currently very active in the Windows Phone section of MS Answers, where I'm a community moderator.

Something I don't really advertise is that I have a connection to the Windows Phone team through MS Answers. It's somewhere that I'm able to raise issues and seek clarification. It's not a service that I like to abuse, so I ask sparingly. Depending on the workload of my contact, I may not get an answer, but at least it's something.

I'm looking forward to working with you guys and continuing to support the community.

Welcome chaps!
This is quick! Well done Laura for expanding the team so quick, so well. I am sure everyone will have great time breaking in with the new influx of WP8.1 threads and if you break something, blame it on Cori. ;)

Welcome aboard, you guys will issue your first infractions/bans soon enough.

Anytime will be too soon, but alas, you are probably right. :grincry:

So, is there a place where we can test the mod tools (move, merge, delete, etc) without the risk of screwing up real stuff? I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I could test these things out in a sandboxed environment before using them in earnest.

Edit: On second thought, since we can apparently just break stuff and then blame it on Cori...

Actually one thing that mods can do that regular members cannot is create a second account as a test account.

Most of the spammers tend to hit the forums when the majority of the mods in the US are sleeping.

Are you able to see the threads in the Mobile Nations staff forums about removing spam?

If not, hopefully James will have your permissions set properly tomorrow.

Taking the blame is what I do best!

Are you sure about this? In the day time, I only tend to catch about 2-4 spammers at max - presuming this is when USA sleeps? I have noticed every night after I sleep, the forum seems to buzz! I was under the impression most users are from the USA, at least that's what member map suggested every time.

Btw, main reason to quote you is - if you chase James up, here is another thing with IE11 and website he could help us with - I cannot "like" anything. My like button doesn't do anything at all. You may have noticed in last month or so I have hardly liked anything. Trust me I like things here, a lot, but can't show it :(

I adamantly refuse to use anything other than IE11 to browse the web. Especially if I am going to be on WPCentral. I am a ****** like that ;)

I've noticed spammers around 03:00 -- 05:00 EDT, which is when most people in US would still be sleeping.

I do plan to ask about the IE issues at the meeting of the Team Leaders; that's part of my agenda. The meeting was supposed to happen last evening, but it got postponed till 9 April since James had no power at his house.

BTW, like is completely broken in Smartwatch Fans. I use Firefox and cannot like anything or see what new likes I was given by other posters.
