Pop Ups while on Edge

I set my Windows 10 security settings to turn on their pop-up blocker. On Edge I visit various websites and many of them look like pop-up city. Is there something I am missing or is Edge/MS pop-up settings a sham?

get adblock plus? BTW this also happens on chrome and other browsers, just isn't an "EDGE" problem
