When I tried to charge using the USB port of my surface pro 3, I get a warning in Windows 10
Power surge on the USB port
Unknown USB Device needs more power than the port can supply.
Then instead I thought I would plug it into the power brick of my surface pro 3 because there is a usb port there as well. However this didn?t exactly work. At first I thought it did because the phone made that noise it makes when it establishes a usb connection, however it kept repeating every second and the charge indicator icon would turn on and off too.
Daniel, do you have a SP3 or 4 you can test this with?
For what it's worth, I didn't have any problem charging it through the front usb port on my desktop pc.
