Windows Central Question

Hi
I used Aomei NTFS to FAT32 Converter to convert without losing files
After completion I got problem with file names

For example this is what is look like for nearly 80% of the files

Png became pn0 pn1 ….
And the name cut off
Happens to other types

The non English names became weird and non readable

when try to rename any file from (EXAMP.PN0 ---> EXAMP.PNg) windows recognize the previous name and asks me to add number because there is already file with this name already even though it is not shown as it is

What is the solution for this?
Thanks

I don't know anything about Aomei but the sample names you listed sound like the 8.3 names of files maintained in directories for DOS program compatibility. I suspect the directory has been damaged in some way that is resulting in whatever is showing you those names (Windows Explorer?) to be showing the 8.3 names rather than the actual longer names. Trying to rename just the 8.3 name would cause the error you describe.

This could be a jumping off point for your quest:
