Putting music on mu lumia920

Let me start off this phone is amazing my question is everytime I want to put music on my 920 through the PC it crashes the the windows 8 phone app it'll say syncing then crashes idk if I'm doing something wrong or its my laptop.

You've tried the Windows 8 app and that's not working. Want to try this route and let me know if it still doesn't work. It's the Windows Phone app for desktop that allows you to add media to your phone on the desktop vs the Windows 8 app.

on my computer (at home or work), when i plug my 920, it shows up on my desktop. i highlight the songs and drag it to the 920 icon and it's done.

It will show up like any other expandable storage you connect to your PC.

after a few folks here suggested MusicBee I switched over to using it for playing Music from PC and synching to Phone. It recognizes the Lumia 920. Configured to be similar to Zune software, which I've used (alongside foobar), I am very happy with it (no database issues or long loading times with 4.5k albums).

Sorry for not making that clear. The music still on my PC's (after upgrading to W8) is stuff purchased from iTunes, which I believe are m4a. Maybe that format has something to do with why it takes forever?
