Question regarding branding/locks

Technically, my phone (Lumia 800) "was" Orange branded (Orange logo at boot), so I assumed it only worked with Orange sim cards.
But after I received a new device from the repair center, it's not branded anymore, but I have only got one micro sim card, and no adapters (so I cant make one for temporary use and then use regularly again), is there a way to check for a sim lock? (Like some code to dial?)

Check under Settings>About and look at the carrier line. Mine (factory unlocked/unbranded) says CV UK SW variant. Branded ones usually say what carrier they're branded to.

Mine just says
Carrier: Austria - 457.03

I guess I'll have to ask my friends if they have a micro sim card.
