Questions about enableing/disabling background tasks. And FB Messenger app

Just to be clear. Disabling background tasks for an app disables live tile and toast right?

And if any of you use the FB Messenger app, are you getting toast notifications at all? I seem to rarely get them, but the FB app toasts work for messages, comments etc. Should I just not bother with the FB Messenger app?

You should try to re-install facebook messenger. I have disabled notifications from facebook app (for message, but I do Recieve notifications for comments , pokes )

afaik, disabling background agent only disables the 30-minute update for the app (which it can use to schedule live tile updates, renew its data etc). you still should get push notifications.
You can, however, enable or disable push in the actions center settings, individually for every app.
