Hey there, I can confirm that Windows Phone records in the mp4 format. This information below is taken from my Lumia 1020, however the same applies to the 920 as well (they use the same format profiles and average bitrates for video).

I also noticed in one of the previous posts that you were asking about the audio playback quality of music with Windows Phone.
I can tell you, it's simply awesome, when playing through a decent set of earphones. I always use WMA Lossless for my music (when dragging and dropping to the Music folder, always choose the "do not convert" option) and it's on there. I play audio back using a set of Shure SE535s, and with the EQ settings tuned correctly, it sounds amazing. (See below screenshot) for the settings I chose). On the following page I had all the options turned off except flip-to-silence.

Saving YouTube videos I believe depends on the app you use. Most store them in mp4 as well, but either way it's perfectly playable, on phone or PC.
Also, just out of interest, is there a reason for not trying the 1020? The price of that has really come down lately, and you'd be getting much more than the 920 or 925 for very similar prices.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
