RAM cause issues with gaming?

Hello all I'm hoping to change to wp8 on my next upgrade however I'm a big mobile gamer but i don't have enough money to afford a high end wp, so i was wondering does the lack of more RAM cause problems on the lumia 620 both in games and in general?

Sorry for my android themed avatar I'm currently using 2 android devices(xperia play and nexus 7).

Coming from android, I understand why you would be concerned because specs mean everything on that fragmented OS.

WP8 is different, and is optimized for it's hardware. The OS will run great with just 512 Ram. With respect to gaming, the developers can also optimize their devices to work well with 512MB RAM.

Eg. Gameloft recently updated Asphalt 7 to work with 512 MB and I am sure more updates will come to help further improve the performance.

Where you from?

If you are due for an upgrade, isn't the phone supposed to be subsidized? Unless you are planning to upgrade by buying an unlocked phone.

In general (L620 user) you won't feel any chopines or anything, it is just smooth as silk. Games also run super, but of course most modern games lets name Batman or MC4, they just require more ram to utillize the whole game so they can't run on our devices. In fact maybe they could down a bit the graphics and let us play. It ain't up to Nokia or MS its just about developers.

Smooth as silk - i really love this term.Do i understand u clearly - u don't play games with PC or with other console? And when was the last time u touched a silk?

Yes I'm planning for an unlocked phone and I'm trying to move away from android, while i like it i feel the need for something fresh.

What do you think the possibility of unity game engine support for 512mb ram is? Oh and does skulls of shogun work?

I think one game created using Unity has been published, Drift Mania, but it hasn't had good ratings.

Skulls of the Shogun works fine on the 620.

Because of the 512mb memory, games like Batman and Spiderman don't work, but they may be patched to do so like Asphalt 7.

Despite the possibility of some games not working, it is the best value Windows Phone 8 out there - e.g. while the new 520 and 720s are coming out, nothing apart from their screens make them better than the 620, and the 620's front facing camera is something neither more expensive model has. Highly recommended!
