Rubber strap splitting on Band2

Bought my first band 2 back in March last year, and the strap has split every two to three months. I am now on my third or 4th band and just noticed the strap going again yesterday, it's a Shame as I really love this product but now getting tired if taking them back, and with Microsoft now disbanding the team behind the band I don't they will fix it or phase out the issue with a band 3. Looking at the fitbit blaze as a replacement, but will be sad to end my affair with the band 2.

hey guys, i had same problem with mine after about 7 months of wearing. I am from Brazil, so i have no microsoft support near me. I could not accepted that I would lost my band 2 due to this factory problem. So I found a solution for this **** problem. I use windshield glue. It is a rubberized black glue of polyurethane, after it dries, the color is almost the same of the wristband. I am really optimist with the result. I still have to do a finishing, I will sanding a little and then post the final result.
Were you able to get a good finish with the adhesive? I'd love to do the same if it worked out.

splitting again. Guess its time to decide on an android wear watch. Microsoft abandoned this just like they did windows phone. Frustrating.

Wife is on her second Band 2 with a split strap, again. Just got off the phone with MS. Warranty ended in Jan. They're not offering to do anything, which I understand to a degree, but this is the second Band that the strap has split. I sent mine in over a week ago for a failing battery. I'm expecting for them to say they don't have anymore to replace mine with. Funny thing is, we bought our Bands at the same time, had the originals replaced at different times, and somehow mine is still showing a warranty until until July 2017.

The whole thing does suck.

Seriously, wrap some electrical tape near where the band meets the clasp... It seems to put enough pressure on it to keep it together.. It doesn't look super terrible either, imho.

May be you were sending your band for replacement. And your wife's was not replaced yet. I think when I sent mine for replacement the warranty was prolonged. In my case 1 month...

Mine split for the second time in less than 6 month again.... and now out of warranty. I am done with the band or any band / watch that does not have a replaceable strap / band.

Even the Fit Bits split in time as well.

Oh no! My third Band started splitting yesterday. It's still under warranty through Microsoft Complete. We shall see what happens when I take it in.

I really like the Band 2, so I'm kinda hoping that they have extras on hand for an exchange.

I noticed my band (probably my 5th one so far, maybe even my 6th) started splitting again in the same place yesterday. This one was a brand new replacement from the service centre at the beginning of December. I was surprised to see it was still covered under warranty so got onto customer support and now have to ship it off again. They did warn as others have mentioned that I might get a refund as they don't make them any more, I suspect though I'll get a replacement. I also checked the status of the warranty on a replacement, apparently you get a further 90 days warranty on a replacement.

I just got off a support call with MS. My band is now considered 'out of warranty'. I'm a bit irritated still since my current band is only 4 months old (number three in replacements). No options offered, just a 'we are so sorry'... I may try the electrical tape for a while, pics don't look too bad. sigh.

MS has forced me to move to Android by the lack of support for Windows Phone. Even if they did make a Band 3, I would go with Fitbit at this point. I have owned Windows Phones since CE was a thing. I love my Surface Pro 3 and I loved my Band 2. Vzn HTC One M8 was a great phone, MS just decided not to allow Win10 on it after they initially indicated the model would get it.

BTW my wife had a Garmin fitness tracker. The LCD display recently lost lines on the display after 2 years of use. I couldn't believe that they gave her a free upgrade to a newer Garmin (They also offered a $150 refund, she took the new device). THAT is how you do customer service Microsoft.

Sent my split band in on Monday, and surprisingly got a note that a replacement was on its way to me today. I guess there still is some stock left.

Sh.t just noticed my second band just split. I will try a replacement and hope it will work. If not I will be desperately because what to do? Bought a Vivoactiv HR for tries but the only good thing is autonomy. Steps are far off, Sleep doesn't record well, etc, etc. Cross my fingers...

I had good luck using Sugru (black) reinforcing the known weak spots of the band near the bezel. My wife's band 2 had nasty splits on both sides over time. Sugru seems to be a great method of molding a flexible rubber that sets quite nicely

Well, again my band 2 split after about 4 months, that was my 4th one. Sent it from UK to Germany again, Initially got an email saying they would ship a replacement, but then got another mail, as others have said, that I will get a refund in 6 to 10 weeks! Why so long! They had better refund what I paid.

I bought my band in December 2015 direct from MS UK and it has just started to split in the same place. I've hardly worn the thing in 6 months as I have a manual job and didn't want to damage it. So, just weekends, evenings out, the odd night to track my sleep.

It's obviously out of warranty and I'm not very happy.

I've recently bought my kids the Garmin Vivosmart HR and I think I'll be getting one for myself when my Band finally gives up - which might not be too long as it's also started to randomly turn off (regardless of battery state), only turning back on when I plug it in.

split again on my replacement. Ugh. Think its time to give android wear a try.

Misfit Vapor looks nice but no NFC, not a deal breaker for me. LG watch sport looks decent as well.

Anyone else ditch the band since microsoft has abandoned us? Any hopes for a surface phone or new smart watch in the upcoming hardware event? Also hoping for a cortana home hub type of device.

It's unfortunate that happened. If you have a MS store near you, I would take it in and I'm sure it will be replaced on the spot.

This was the case - free replacement, no questions asked.

Now, though, I won't be getting a new Band for this recently torn one. I'll use it 'til it gives in and go with Fitbit or see if there's a DIY fix. Any leads to one?

will MS still replace these? my band has split beyond repair. bought complete care at time of purchase and I'm within 2 years.
