Scaling on large devices

Quite some time ago, I had a 1520 for about 2 weeks before returning it. One of the main reasons I didn't keep it was that the OS nor the apps took advantage of of that screen size. I didn't want a 6-in phone if I wasn't seeing significantly more information/detail/content on every screen.

Has this changed at all since the phone came out? Have many apps updated to take advantage?
