Screen size worries

Hey I currently have an HD7 on Bell in Canada, and I'm actually tempted to buy an 800 outright from TELUS when they release it, because the design is so damn sexy and I'm skeptical Bell will get anything. I used to want an iPhone 4 until I tried typing on one. I was wondering if any 800 owners are coming from a device with a larger screen... If so, is the superior WP software keyboard enough to offset the smaller screen and make it useable for me?

Selfcreation (sorry, can't spell that) has said in another thread that he believes the Lumia 900 is coming to Bell. I don't know how good his info is, but he does work for Bell. I suspect we're going to know a lot more in a month or two...

I came from a 4" screen (LG O2X), and typing is fine.

I did have a different 3.7" phone for about 14 months (Nexus One) so the size isn't new to me.

I've had an HD7 for 6 months, then a Samsung Omnia 7 and now a Lumia 800, basically moving from 4,7" to 4 and now 3,7" and I can say that while I do miss the larger screen size, it's exclusively because I prefer having things displayed bigger. When it comes to typing I find that the Lumia 800 is as good as any of the other two devices and I don't make more typing mistakes than I have made on the Omnia 7/HD7.

I really wanted this phone, and even ordered it. But I cancelled because I think the screen is just too small. I have a 3.8" HTC Trophy right now, but feel I need a bigger screen, not smaller. There also seems to be many people complaining that the capacitive buttons are too close to the screen. I'm going to go ahead and purchase the HTC Titan tomorrow.

I came from a 4" Android phone and thanks to the screen being so much more responsive, my typing experience is actually better with this 3,7" screen than it ever was on the 4" screen no matter what type of keyboard I used.

It is, however, something you would have to get used to in either case. Since you're used to the responsiveness of WP7 already, it might be a problem for you.

Go to a store and see if you can try one first. :)

Sadly, we now know that Rogers will be getting the 900... However, they have the 710 and it has 850/1900 bands, which Bell uses. And if they price it as aggressively off-contract as they did the 710 ($255 + $50 to carrier unlock) I might just buy it outright with my tax return or something. That way, no compromise!
