seeking advice on buying usb hub for surface pro 7

I previously owned an acer w700p. It had this cradle thing that gave it 3 usb ports. One was dedicated to wireless mouse. The other two were flexible. I do know there are times where I'll need more than one usb port and 3 on rare occasion. I understand the usb c port would be used for hdmi connectivity so whatever I do I'll need to be able to have that either a part of the hub or the usb c port not used by the hub so a usb c to hdmi adapter can be used. A shame the thing that came with the w700p requires being plugged into the wall to power the usb ports or I could dismantle the dock for the ports and not need to buy something.
