I went with a Final Fantasy 7 theme on my Lumia 920. I'll have to mess around a little more though.

I still dont understand what you were trying to say. I tried transparent file and didnt worked too.
First you have a regular layer that is your wallpaper like this:
Call-of-Duty-Advanced-Warfare-Havoc-Delayed-to-March-3-on-PC-Because-of-Unexpected-Issue-474382-.jpg
Then through the tileapp upload your png like this, then you simply pin it

Your functional tiles are transparent and simply cover the existing wallpaper

I tried your advice and it worked but it didnt looked good. I saw other screenshots and they used same picture for background and tileart tiles and they perfectly fit. How do they do that? wp_ss_20150314_0001.jpg

I want the batman cape to continue on other functional clickable tiles but as you can see it wont fit.

Some crafty photoshoppers probably can match the background with ease. I have extremely limited skills so I just crop the bg or find one similar
Yeah you can't have the actual main image on a functional tile. You can resize the tiles to extend the cape and wrap out functional live tiles kinda like some of these below I did....

Not the best job and a rushed one at that, but try this to get the idea how to work around it...use the first one for your wallpaper then use the Batman png with the tileart app
