I am one of those "minimal" guys. Every time I do a clean install, the first thing I would do is to pin Recycle Bin to the Quick Access and hide all desktop icons with right-click menu. My background is a screenshot from the iconic wallpaper video.

I usually opt to sick with my drawings and I haven't switched from this since completing it in January. My theme colour for the start menu is green to go with it
