My greasy neanderthal hand smudged it - and the cables were nicely packed before I ripped them out of their little bags, but this is sort of a recreation how it would have been if someone less excited had opened it.Ooooh. I had a preorder for a California Blue 8x, but I'm glad I went black. The California Blue is just too purple for me.
Funny you say that. When I saw the display one here in Scottsdale, I thought it looked a lot more purple than the AT&T model I looked at in Best Buy the other day. Probably lighting differences. I've decided to stick with it; I guess it's not too purple for me. But I can see where others wouldn't like it. For me, the black is just too "standard issue" these days and I haven't warmed up to the red.

I should add that I went to the University of Oregon (GO DUCKS!!!!) and our biggest rival outside of Oregon State is Washington and their main color is purple... just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Well, I went to the store and got to hold a beautiful 8x in my hand. I tried to buy it and cancel my preorder. They couldn't do so because my preorder was in "process." Not shipped, but in "process," the same thing it has said for ages on the website. No tracking info or anything either, so I guess I may not ship today nor will I be able to purchase it in store.
hmm... try again? They were able to cancel mine and use my upgrade on an 8x in store. I had no charge, no hold on my credit card, no estimated ship date, etc. It did need manager approval.
The manager couldn't do it and he tried to call someone with Verizon that told him the whole "progress" thing. Very weird.
