Hello. After a solid 2 year break from windows phone(Those 2 years with an android phone weren't the best) i decided to go back as i found a lumia 735 online for really cheap. I'm not sure if it's because of the nostalgia factor but i just miss the clean look of windows phone. Keep in mind that im an average user that just uses the usual social media, listens to music and take photos. Nothing too fancy.

No.

It's dead. Let it go.

Windows Mobile phone works for me. Give it a go. It's the best, mobile Phone OS if your focus is on business and accomplishing work. If your life is centered around and on your phone apps, then you are better off sticking your nose, all day long, in another mobile Phone OS (operating system).

Just my opinion.

Best Wishes

I’m confused. I thought in any business to accomplish work (be productive) one had to use the tool(s) they have at hand (smartphone, computer, wrench, hammer), obviously the type of business one’s in is going to dictate how often they use those tools, and the time of day, year, etc. If that tool happens to be a smartphone and that individual is very busy, in all likelihood, they’d be “sticking their nose, all day long” into their smartphone, no matter what the platform especially if a PC is not readily available. And chances are reeeeeal good they’ll be using some form of app (see below)…

Curious what people think Outlook, Edge, Calendar, Word, Excel, OneDrive, etc. are? Apps are they not? I use / used some of those but also have others that compliment my workplace, they all reside on a single device too – right there the latter makes things more productive as there’s no need to fumble two devices. So if I’m not using the above mentioned “apps” or certain aspects of WM not offered on other platforms, does that mean I’m not accomplishing anything?

Think these days’ people’s stigma of apps is misconstrued in that they associate ALL with social, games, etc. Yes those are biggies yet not everyone’s cup of tea nor the only types / categories out there. Some apps just do a better job on a small screened device than many web pages can accomplish and information can be accessed quicker in many cases. There’s also many instances where an app is the only way plain and simple, no app no go. At the end of the day apps / applications ARE a prerequisite of any platform otherwise what would we be left with?

Recently my work PC crapped out and we had to rely solely on our BB Android phone to take up the slack, for several days. As well, our nose stayed glued to the screen way more than usual because why, we no longer had a PC fall back on. Phone calls, emails, documents, accessing sever / printers, etc., pretty much did it all w/little hassle although small screens do get tiring after a while... and nope, my WM phone's wouldn’t have been able to accomplishing same guaranteed since some reliance was on apps that do not exist on the platform.

So you see, what works for one won’t necessarily works for others no matter how great they feel WM is as individual needs /wants varies greatly. And it’s no secret WM is slowly but surely dwindling away so it may work now but for how long.

Just my opinion

Yup.

Back in the day, if you were a BlackBerry user and spent time on Crackberry, you know the mantra was “gettin’ things done!”. It was believed by many of those forum members that no other platform (including Windows phone) could get work done as well or as efficiently as a BlackBerry. The iPhone was a “toy” and Android was “crapdroid”. For many BlackBerry was was what got it done but many businesses were starting to use Android and iPhone also. Of course we know the rest of the story and, somehow, businesses did not crash because of the demise of BlackBerry.

They all have their positive and negative aspects and it does, often, have to do with what kind of business you are in and what you are trying to accomplish.

JMHO.

When you say "back in the day" I'm assuming you mean the days of legacy BB OS and not OS10. Memories turn to nostalgia sometimes and we lose track of what really happened. If memory serves, BlackBerry was favored because of push email and data compression. Data was slow and expensive "back in the day" so it was critical to get the most bang for the buck and BlackBerry gave that. So much so that it was very late to the 3G party because data on 2G EDGE was almost as fast as 3G on other platforms. Of course, the buying public wanted that "fast" network and BB paid the price for not following the trend (sounds familiar huh?). My fond memories of legacy OS is of constant battery pulls and 10 minute bootups. PalmOS gave me everything BB did and restarts were only seconds, not hours (figuratively).
