Should my mac be recognizing my phone as a drive/drag and drop device when plugged in via USB?

I want to drag and drop some video files to my phone. When I connected it via USB my phone charges but I don't see the phone as a drive on my PC.

If you are using the app windows phone in the devices side bar you will see a section called browse device. Go to where your video files are and drag them to the image of the phone under devices and they should now be on your phone.

I'm not using the mac app, do I have to?

doesnt show up as file drive on mac. you have to use the windows phone software.

it would help, especially if you have a mac.
Download from App Store, and then you should be good to go.
