Just noticed my wifi download speed is really slow according to my speedtest app. Rebooted the phone and disabled wifi calling and still getting the same results, barely 3mbps download. Powered up my N920 on wifi just to compare and it gets 30mbps download speeds, laptops and tablets are also getting 30mbps download speeds. Anyone having any issues with wifi speeds? I also tried toggling the airplane mode on/off and same results.

I'm having the same issue with tethering speeds. When I use hot spot on my 640 it tethers noticeably slow speeds. Same sim card in my 635 it tethers faster speeds

Hmm, this is weird. If I get really close to my wifi router I get slow crawling download speeds, now I go to the other room where I get 1-2 bars of wifi signal and my download speeds are normal right around 30mbps, doesn't make any sense.

I used the windows phone tools to reflash 8.1 back onto my 640 and it seems the hot spot issues I was having are gone now

Just to chime in, I just picked up a White T-Mobile Lumia 640 and i ran a speed test side by side with my iPhone 5S and the iPhone is getting 28.93 Mbps (down) and my Lumia got only 4.73 Mbps (down).

My UPLOAD speed on my iPhone is 6.18 and my Lumia 640 is getting 5.61.

Windows 8.1

Very strange!

It's probably witching to cellular data when you get to where the wifi signal is weaker. When I leave the house it switches to LTE and I get 30mbps down. When I go back inside and it uses the wifi, I get 1.5mbps

I generally have 25-30 download, 5-6 upload on my 640 and 635, where my laptop gets 50-55 download, 6 upload. When I switch to T-Mobile data I got 1.6 download, 1.1 upload with ookla, and 13 download, 1.6 upload with the Microsoft app, which is weird. I don't have a great signal where I'm at because of the walls, but I'm thinking the 13 is more accurate. I don't know why it is slower on my phone than the computer. I haven't been able to test with anything but a windows phone.

Was having same problem on my Metro pcs 640 average data was 4.5mb on download with average 25 to 30mb across the board with the other WiFi devices in the house using Xfinity 25mb data plan

First turned off WiFi calling no change.

2nd turned off WiFi on the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX which I believe uses dual WiFi antennas internally and ran test instantly 25 to 30mb speeds on 640 have returned.

3rd turned Amazon HDX WiFi back on no change or drop in data 640 is registering 25-30mb

4th rebooted 640 ran test again with HDX turned on 4.5mb data has returned.

5th ran 640 data test with HDX turned off no change.

6th turned off Xfinity router turned back on no HDX WiFi on rebooted 640 with WiFi calling turned off 25mb returns on 640

7th and final test turn WiFi calling off reboot rerun test on 640 data is 2530mb.

My conclusion turned WiFi calling off only works on a reboot and is interfering with the data. Turning WiFi calling off without a 640 reboot seems to not work. HDX at first seemed like a culprit but does not now seem like the issue. Try this let me know ur results.
