So the notifications for the Facebook app don't work at all?

They did for me on my L920 for like the first few days. Now nothing, zilch, nada. I only want them for messages and there is an option to set the notifications for messages only. But I don't get them for ANYTHING.
And don't recommend the built in messaging. You don't get messages notifications there if you're offline, or the contact that sent you the message isn't in your list or is offline.

Works for me, I got all notifications just today alone.

I never get messages through as notifications from my Facebook app, even though it's set to in the Facebook settings. I sometimes get wall posts and other notifications but never messages. I prefer to use the built in messaging app but like you said you have to be logged in, and even when set to online, it is very unreliable for me and keeps disconnecting.

I've had far better luck with Facebook + Pro from floonetwork apps. Facebook+ Pro | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

It might be worth a shot if you are not having good success with the app which came installed.
