limited options to pick from.

I'm on bell and they dropped wp7 awhile back and not sure if they will be supporting wp8... if they launch wp8 day one... then my answer is day one.

Day 1 I'll have the 920. The only question is color. I thought for sure I'd do silver, but that yellow is looking cool to me.

Not anytime soon.

The Lumia 920 looks great, but it's not remarkably different enough for me to get rid of my 900 before my upgrade.

That isn't a surprise to me though, because I was never really planning on dropping my phone the second the first WP8 phone came out.

1.) I have more than a year left on my contract and I don't think there is ANYTHING they could have done that would be so amazing I'd run out and pay full price to replace my perfectly good 900 right this minute.

2.) I'm really reconsidering whether or not I want a phone this large anymore. I love my L900, but it's pretty huge. The 4.3+" form factor doesn't seem to be the best for one handed operation and frankly it sometimes gets a little tiring carrying it in my pocket. I'm hoping will bring out a PREMIUM smaller phone that doesn't force me to sacrifice too much like the budget 710 model did. Actually the 800 would have been almost perfect for me if it has LTE and was subsidized by a US carrier.

3.) The choice of a GLOSSY finish on the 920 is a dealbreaker almost all by itself for me. I HATE GLOSSY plastics on electronics. They look cheap, they show smudges and scratches, in fact its one of the reasons almost all of Samsungs products (not just phones) look like cheap trash. One of the things I like most about my 900 is the premium feel of the matte finish on the polycarbonate. Please get it right next time Nokia. Don't do the tacky glossy plastic again. Ever.

4.) WP8 just came out. As I said many times before, it's going to take many months before we see a really large selection of WP8-only apps that are going to WOW you. Right now there's virtually nothing.

5.) PureView camera seems very cool, but it's so far from the one on the 808 that I just can't get that excited about it. Certainly not excited enough to break out my checkbook.

All-in-all I think Nokia did well though, but much as I predicted I'll be sitting this round out. I don't want a canary yellow glossy plastic phone that's just as huge as what I'm packing now. Not what I'm looking for.

I'm actually hoping for something more like 4", as the new iPhone is rumored to be, but with premium specs.

If Nokia has something like that in 18 months or so, or at least a seriously slimmed down 4.3" with a lot less bezel than my 900 that's a little lighter, I'll be interested. Doesn't have to be Samsung-light. I don't expect that because Samsung makes unacceptable compromises with cheap thin plastic to achieve that.

By then things should really be cooking in the WP8 ecosystem anyway. If they aren't, then my next will probably be an iPhone 5, as much as I hate to say it.

It will definitely not be a piece of **** Android though no matter what. That I can guarantee.

Im content with my Samsung Focus S. I mean.. I did upgrade from a palm centro...

But even the centro had many more apps for anything.. I know apps arent used by everyone..I certainly dont use them as much. I dont do games, i dont do twitter or facebook.. but there are times when Ive thought "let me check the marketplace for App x"

nothing...

I cant say im overly excited about the new lumia..maybe ill just wait and see what win 8 has to fix/include.

one other thing. Has nokia released their APN manager app again? (im on prepaid)

Nice one Socialcarpet. I agree. As soon as the dust settled and the adrenaline cooled, I realized it ain't flagship in anyway. Plastic is cheap, not a quad core, not a 2 GB RAM..nothing I mean..camera maybe but I really don't care what camera they give me..camera can NEVER b a phone's USP If u ask me.

Now I really hope HTC pulls something out of the hat in Time...my last hope..
