SP 2 Screen broke - buy SP3, wait for holiday deals, or wait for SP 4?

The scene on my SP 2 is toast. I can use it with a mouse and the typecover, but it is shading pretty badly and tends to act up on me. I am trying to decide if I should try to hold off on replacing this (it's my main and only pc/tablet device) or if I need to suck it up and buy now. I realize holiday sales are not far away and hearing more rumors that a SP 4 is coming soon.

Based on your experience, what do you recommend?

I haven't heard any rumors of a SP4 coming soon. Not here in the forums or in any articles. Looking at the past releases it appears they happen every 8 months. I would imagine they might release a SP4 but I think it would be an internal upgrade like the SP2 was. I have a feeling though that they might try to wait to release another Surface Pro once Windows 10 is released. Just my opinion don't have much to back it up.

Get the pro 3 . You will love it.if you wait for something that is not even announced then you will always be waiting.

I hate waiting for technology. What stops you from waiting for the Pro 5 when the 4 is released? What if the 4 is never released?

This device seems to be doing well so I wouldn't expect any crazy deals this holiday season. Maybe a bundle that gets you a free type cover, but don't count on 20% off. Personally I'd rather not suffer an extra month with a flaky computer. Get it now and you can pounce on the inevitable accessory deals that pop up.

Thanks for the feedback. I expect the SP 4 will have the new Intel processors, eliminating the need for a fan. If it has these new processors, the SP 4 should be lighter, thinner, and the battery should last longer. That being said, I won't be able to wait. Maybe they will give me something for my SP 2/typecover combo at the Microsoft Store. I am definitely getting the Microsoft service plan.
