That is what I would normally think, too, but the fact that the 830 users don't see "Resuming" when using Whatsapp anymore and that I, with a 3Gb RAM 950XL see it every time songs signals that there's room for improvement.

I think memory allocation to old silverlight apps is limited in some way.

thats how buggy software is and most people dont seem to understand that, it might work or totally fail for any particular user because with such complex software there are ton of variables, so its not like "x software is buggy, hence it doesnt work for anyone" like it used to be

regarding 3gb+ devices, increasing the pagefile SHOULDN'T make any difference, but then we have some extraordinarily bad software going around in w10m... anything can happen, see fb messenger reports that a call button appears with 1gb pagefile

I do not understand why this is new. We have been able to edit the registry for years and W10M has been around since 2015. Pretty sure it's not popular for a reason... I'm not certain though and will need to dig around on the "side effects" around this particular solution to app caching/switching on low ram devices.

Not exactly, but why was it posted last week?
Does it matter? Weird question. Ask the OP.

It could be because this guide showed up on both reddit and youtube last week, you know, the links in this thread? Purely speculating.

It does not really matter. Just curious why nobody tried this yet. I've never owned a windows phone with less than 1gb of ram on w10m. So never needed to use this.

I was messing around with it and the 830 and now it reverts to 2048 2048 after rebooting, I can change other registry entries just fine so I don't know why this particular one reverts after a reboot now all of a sudden, I tried 1024 before and it was working as expected, now it shows 0 bytes on storage but browsing main phone memory shows there's a 400mb pagefile apparently created by default by the OS when booting up

when it was working at 1024 I could see the 1gb pagefile at c:/data/ but now its located at c:/ and its 406mb, storage settings says 0 bytes, probably because that thing only reads it if its on /data

I see a hard reset coming for you in the future, unless you figure out which reg entries/edits caused that and move them back to their defaults.

Hmm. Are you going to Settings->System->Storage->This Device->System & reserved -- then seeing it say 2GB? or the registry setting is still 2048?

...Actually do this. Put it back to 256 256 or 512 512. Then power off.

I think there is an issue or limit setting it to 2048 2048 that bugs the settings result.

only amount it recognized under that setting was 1gb, it doesnt seem to like 2048, the change sticks after reboots, the problem is I can no longer change it, it resets after a reboot back to 2048 and other registry changes do this too, only work until reset

now I also noticed apps wont update through the store and trying to install interoptools or its dependencies fails too

so here's an advice, dont try more than 1024, apparently the OS doesnt like more than that, it will show as 0 bytes on system & reserved and create a smaller pagefile under c:/ maybe it results in another default setting taking place

What if the 1024 1024 is never saved and always resets back to default 256 256 on my L930?

Version 1.9 and I enabled NDTKSvc.

Any ideas?

You are still unable to write the registry change. After you enable the option you mentioned I think you need to reboot. Make sure you can toggle the unlock options too.
