Sprint/T-Mobile Merger Not Going Through

I would be less concerned if SoftBank actually improved Sprint since the buyout. T-Mobile has done a lot to remain competitive against AT&T and Verizon (with apparently little help from Deutsche Telekom). T-Mobile has even started a pricing war amongst the carriers, which is nothing short of awesome for customers. Sprint has... well... trademarked the word Framily. So I guess there's that.

Sprint and T-Mobile would be less of a merger and more of a buyout. Legere would join Hesse as corporate middle man, never to be heard from again. And all the good that T-Mobile has done would be replaced by SoftBank's apparent ineptitude.

If this goes thru, I'll leave whatever they are called in a heartbeat. Dammit. I'm VERY satisfied with T-Mobile now ..... 'Sprint-mobile' can shove it.

I still don't see it happening because the FCC and DOJ will step in and nix it just like they did with the proposed AT&T/T-Mobile merger.

They stopped that cause it would almost cause a monopoly and wouldnt keep the industry competitive enough. AT&T was too big and would have surpassed Verizon by a long shot. If Sprint and T-Mobile merged that would put them on par with AT&T and Verizon. Less likely to get denied. Sprint knows this thats why theyre trying. Not saying it wont happen but its less likely to get denied

That's what I am hoping happens. I think it would be a big mess for a long time, and enough of a mess that I would switch back to AT&T. I remember when Orange and T-Mobile merged in France, so that makes me worry a little..

If it happened, I would probably go with an MVNO, because I'm no longer interested in Sprint (briefly considered switching to it had the T-Mobile/AT&T merger had taken place) and I'd never go with AT&T.

If (and that's a big fat IF) the two merged and stayed with T-Mobile's present business model and with Legere at the helm, I'd stick around for a spell to see how it all evolves.
