Student Discounts at Microsoft Store

Since it was brought to my attention that Students get a discount at Microsoft Stores (and online), I thought I'd post the link for that, as well. Though I qualify for either the student or veteran discount, it does bug me that students get a bigger discount than veterans (the veteran's discount is only 5% on PCs).

I don't have an edu email, as my school (University of the People – The world’s first tuition-free online university) doesn't issue email addresses. I used a copy of my latest course schedule to qualify for DreamSpark, though, and that was no problem.

Just a reminder - if you're a student, don't forget to get your discount! And if you go to Best Buy, get them to price match. I'm going to head there tonight after work.

I preordered mine through the web, using the student discount. I didn't need a .edu domain address.

I didn't do that for two reasons. Best Buy rewards, and blue keyboard. And the shame of it is that now I'm even thinking of not getting the blue.

I pre-ordered mine over the phone (called a retail store and got directed to their retail support call center). I asked about a student discount and they didn't ask for .edu, school, ID number...nothing. He said the reasoning for the change in policy (they no longer check) is that basically everyone is a student...
Make what you want of that.

Looking on Microsoft's website, where you can select your state, then your school, I had to laugh. I work in Norcross, GA, so I just happened to put that in, so I could get to the pricing, and there's "Academy of Somatic Healing Arts (ASHA)". Yeah, I think my school, which doesn't issue edu addresses to students, is much more of a school than that. I'll be coming out with an accredited bachelor degree.

I went into the MS store and showed them my staff Univ. ID and they gave me the discount. The catch is that I am traveling and in a foreign country. I was fully expecting them to say that they would not give me the discount because I was not in my home country. But was glad they did - 10% off!

My student discount online now doesn't work with the Surface Pro 3, even though literally an hour ago I got it to work. Only reason I had to go back is because the stupid website didn't save my cart. Their website is trash.

I just checked - the student pricing is still there. The Pro 3 isn't at the top of the page, but if you scroll down it's there.

When I click on that it takes me to the regular prices even though before it took me to the discounted prices.

I was just told that I can go back into the Microsoft Store where I purchased my SP3 without using my wife's educational discount, and have it adjusted. All I need to do, they said, is provide my wife's .edu email address. Just FYI...
