I am running the latest insider build on Lumia 950 (OS .36, firmware .02020). I am sure before the updates there have been an option to turn on sunlight readability enhacements. However, cannot find it anywhere in the settings, Extras including, anymore. Am I the only one missing the option or anyone else noticed the same problem?

I honestly don't see how folks cannot read things in direct sunlight with this. I've not really had any trouble, and I use it outside daily. Perfectly readable.

I'll jump on this as I think it's the same on 950XL, I'm on insider though.

If I compare with my Lumia 930, even 920.. the whole screen turns into this over exaggerated colour contrast mode under sunlight.... I don't get that with my 950XL... infact nothing really changes when I point the screen towards the sun. Is it supposed to to be the same as the 930/920 in windows 8.1?

Hi there,

I know this is a slightly old thread, but I just ran into this problem with my 950 XL where I was in direct sunlight and couldn't understand why the screen looked so bad. My sunlight readability was on, but nothing changed when I moved the phone into sunlight.

I figured out the problem was also listed under color profile: battery saver brightness. If this is set to on, and you're in battery saver mode, the screen won't change. This fixed the issue for me (since there really wasn't any issue). My XL dies after about 3/4 of my day, so I usually ratchet up battery saver to 65% instead of 20%. I hope this helps anybody who happens to find this thread when they have a similar issue.
