I have been using a 2nd monitor w my surface book for 6 months that is a 4k monitor. The resolution has been 3840x2160 during this time until I traveled recently. I returned to my home environment and the 2nd monitor won't go higher than 1920x1080 now. Has anyone else seen this happen and how do I get it back to the 3840x2160 resolution? I need this res to work in the software I use in my work.

on desktop, right click and screen properties - this does not give the option to change resolution?

Are you using the same exact display adapter at home? Some of the adapters (mini-displayport to HDMI) don't support 4k resolution. I've read something about it requiring an "active" adapter, but I haven't taken the time to look into that.

I have the same issue.
I have contacted Microsoft several time with no luck.
The last time the Microsoft support person said I would have to wait for an update some time in the future.
No estimated timeline was available.
I can get the monitor to run in high res (3000 X 2000) if I mirror the screen but not as extended desktop.
Will not work work either via hub or display port.

The best I can figure is the default 4k driver has an issue and we need to await an update. I have become so desperate I am considering seeing if another monitor will work that uses custom drivers and buy a new one. That would not make me very happy as I purchased two (one for home & one for office) and they were not cheap.
