Surface Duo and cases?

So I wonder how cases and other device protectors are going to work on Duo (and Neo for that matter). It looks like a clean folding device flush to each of the screens. Spigen is going to have some challenges with this one...

Wouldn't it just be like a folio phone case? More advanced though, obviously. It'll be interesting to see what manufacturers come up with. A 'smart case' for the Duo that allows you to see the top screen, rotated to be portrait, at all times, could work. It may allow one-handed mode at least.

folio like case is possible but It will make device thicker & the biggest problem is it's impossible to design a case which allows 360 degree mode ( phone mode ) and also closes flat.

It would be a sin to put a case on a premium phone like that. You will destroy the premium look. Just my opinion.

I'll be getting D-brand skin on the backs, as soon as I get it.. a clear case on the backs, might follow... lol 😆 before I drop it.😁

This is one of those "Let's wait and see" situations. I could see this device being a little more durable. For example, because the screens face each other when the device is closed, I plan on skipping the screen protector. The hinge may be the Achille's heel in regards to durability for this device and how does one even make a case to protect that?

As far as a case is concerned, if that's a must for you, I would wait and see what happens there. For example, the only case solution might be a sleeve thing and you need to remove the device from the sleeve to use it. It might be a situation where the case limits the functionality of the device.

I don't have a lot of cases where I've dropped a phone. So my initial thought is to just pass on the case. However, now that there's the whole opening of the phone, maybe the risk of a drop is higher. I don't know.

There are reasons why some say that this is very much a V1 device not intended for the masses. The case situation is one of the reasons this is the assessment.

With a device of this nature almost any kind of conventional case with either ruin the look/feel or hinder it's operation. I am thinking perhaps the bumper that comes with it (that would really rock in black) and perhaps a protective skin of some type. I normally carry my phone on my belt, (even Note's) the Duo, I am not sure how that's going to work (I suppose if I don't find something I like I can always design and build my own option..

Cheers,
BR

I am getting the Invisible Shield for the Surface Duo. It comes with 4 screen protectors. This will cover the device front and back. The Invisible Shield along with the bumper should protect the Duo.

I ordered the Shield from Best Buy. It should be deliver on the 25th.

I bought a skin. Plan on using that with the bumper case that is in the box. Curious to see what kinds of cases will be made for this thing.

I was eyeing the Matte Black myself. Correction, I was considering the Swarm skin but I pre-ordered the Matte Blackdbrand_matte_blk_duo.PNG

Cheers,
BR
