Will we be able to install Intel's graphics driver? it seems we can't on SP4, though it provides better control over colors... The automatic contrast enhancement is annoying.

hello. is that driver an .exe file? if so then no you wont be able to if youre using windows 10 s. arent the intel drivers offered through the windows update anyways?

The drivers will be automatically provided by the Microsoft and no one is needed to care about the drivers.

Not sure how many of you got to watch Microsoft Build and Google's IO events, but I really do like the direction both companies are going. I do wish Microsoft did take the home personal assistant more seriously, I think Cortana could be as good Google Home. But other than that I do like that they are doing a lot with AI and cloud computing. I think is he future of computing.

Right now Amazon is kicking is currently kicking butt in this category, but I don't see why Microsoft can't be successful in this arena

No matter what, they can't compete with google... Google will always have an edge over others on that(AI & Assistant) area due to its search engine which is by far the best and used by majority. And hence gives better results via google assistant.

But I agree with what you mentioned above about Microsoft & google doing crazy stuff with AI.

I wanna change my laptop, for a Surface laptop because i'm youtuber and I wanna make a awesome videos with a surface laptop here is the link for my channel-->> https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzedw_G7XtCXuGyGIFw72Gg.
and my second reasons is that i'm obsess with Microsoft products.

You've got company. Exactly the same reason I am here for. I am thinking about starting my own YouTube channel where I can share my views on new tech/gadgets. I'm too obsessed with Microsoft products that is the reason I got my first Surface Pro 3 from US because it was not launched in India.

And now taking a chance with surface laptop and waiting for microsoft to release surface phone :)

Very clever idea! I'm a teacher and am wondering when Microsoft will make a classroom friendly device that my students can benefit from one note and more?

Microsoft did launch surface 2 years back that use to run the windows RT version. I cannot think of a more classroom friendly product or the base model from any surface pro could be a great classroom friendly product. Hope that helps.

It just annoys me when no one cares about the rules of the contest and always talk about his/her winning, I think it is dumb to participate in this give away. I'm gonna back off.

you are still doing great. it is good be part of contest when no one is talking sense as it increases your chances of winning. Right ?

all the best :)

thats what i was thinking, although i remember reading of problems that occur with drivers offered through windows update and some people fixing these problems by installing other drivers. that means they would not be able to install these drivers.

hey vinaygera. thats cool you want to start your own youtube channel. the surface laptop after being upgraded to windows 10 pro would be capable of great video editing for your youtube channel. do what mkbhd (a tech youtuber who has 4+ million followers) did by just reviewing things you already have. he was reviewing apps in his computer in the beginning then branched out. good luck!

Did you use Surface Pro 4, if yes you must be understanding that many drivers come through Windows Update and until now no driver has malfunctioned, so same thing will happen to Surface Laptop. Even if we find the appropriate drivers and install them, it is just a mere time waste, what's the use of getting the latest drivers? Especially for Surface products.

https://www.neowin.net/news/new-int...e-surface-pro-4-sleep-power-consumption-issue

this article talks about an issue surface pro 4 users had where their devices would consume more than expected battery life in sleep mode, and a fix to this problem was to download an intel driver that wasnt publicly released through the windows update. the file was a .zip file offered through intel's website; not a .exe file like i was asking about earlier, but still a solution to a problem that was not offered "officially".

Agree. How can you a meaningful discussion when you don't have the product?

hey there. at the moment this forum section is mostly for speculation and opinion purposes, like if you would use the surface pen with the laptop (here https://forums.windowscentral.com/s...would-you-use-surface-pen-surface-laptop.html ) or your ultimate reason to own the surface laptop (here https://forums.windowscentral.com/surface-laptop/458389-ultimate-reason-own-surface-laptop.html ).

It has the same screen aspect ratio as older surface products (Pro3 & Pro4). It won't be an ideal laptop for heavy gaming. Hope this will give some idea about its utility.

vinay i agree with you about it not being ideal for gaming. the aspect ratio is a little more limiting than wider screen laptops and its just not a laptop built for gaming. msi, razor, or another brand that makes laptops with dedicated gpu inside is better for gaming.

Yeap, thanks for your wishes. That is what I'm doing these days coming up with list of things that I'll be reviewing in coming few months for my youtube channel. Planning + Execution + consistency + Feedback is what I am focusing on to pursue this and helping people with useful reviews & tips.

youre welcome! consistency is key. it seems tiring especially at the beginning because there is no financial reward from making youtube videos, but as the fan base grows so will the ad revenue. it would be cool to see a review on the surface laptop if you won.
