I am using a Surface 2 and recently my device loses battery very quickly while in standby. I have charged it to 100% and overnight it can drop to as low as the 10~20% range. At first I thought there might be a problem with the type cover, but after removing it, the device still had the same problem.
I removed everything and reinstalled Windows and the problem was fixed until the updates installed again. Sadly, you cannot disable automatic updates on the Surface 2 so I'm stuck with the same problem.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

*Note: this is a refurbished replacement device from Microsoft and I have only had it for about 3 months.

Sadly i cannot help you. But this is really unfortunate, as one of the big advantages of having an ARM device is the long standby time.

I've found battery drain during standby when I left a micro SD card in the slot. Removing it helped.
I'd also recommend buying the power cover. It really takes the worry about battery life away.
