Surprise - Closing apps in windows phone 8.1

I just today figured out that we don't have to click on 'X' button to close an app in task manager(or multitasker, however we call it), but just swipe the app down(I figured this out accidentally). Did this feature exist in wp8 or new in wp8.1?

Then it was very nice surprise for me. Others here probably knew about this feature for long time.

Very cool. Same action (swipe down) as desktop Windows.

Just to be clear, this particular feature was covered by WPCentral multiple times.
