I rescued my wife's old Treo 750 from the "donation" pile yesterday. She switched to an iPhone 3G long ago, leaving the Treo languishing in a drawer, unused and unappreciated. It hadn't even been updated to WM6. So I charged it up, found the Treo 750 WM6 update ROM online, updated the Treo, made a micro-SIM card adapter out of an old plastic name tag, and swapped my iPhone 4 micro-SIM card into it. It lives!
So... now what? Well, this may sound crazy, but I'm going to try living with a 3+ year old Treo 750 as my primary phone for a few days. Over the past year and a half, I've switched back and forth from webOS to Android to iOS. Every "modern" mobile OS has left out PIM/PDA features that were imperative for business and Exchange users. Maybe a fresh retrospective look at an "outdated" mobile OS will be interesting in this current app-obsessed time.
