Sync contacts from Windows Phone to PC via USB

Hi,

I have a friend with windows phone who never created account with Microsoft (he's not about technology). Now his phone's screen is dead, but the phone is recognized when connected to a PC (USB). I can't seen to find an app that would connect to the phone and download the contacts from it. Can anyone help with this matter pls?

Unless he has backups or anything he'll probably need to get the phone repaired and/or take this as a pricey lesson in the importance of backing up your data.
