Sync Phone Contacts to Outlook?

I have read through many threads on Sync issues, but not one that defines my problem. :crying:

I have entered a few names into my phone recently and they are not showing up in my Outlook People tab when I log into my Hotmail account both online (outlook.com) and at home with my Outlook client. I maybe understand at home through the client, but shouldn't all my contacts end up in my online contact People list? I do see (in the phone) that some are listed as Backup Assistant + (entered into the phone), while others are actual Hotmail contacts from years ago (probably entered online before I got a smartphone).

This is on 928 with Verizon.

Thanks in advance!

Have you done a long press on your Outlook or MS account since entering and did a sync?

I don't see an option to Long Press anything. Manual Sync inside Linked Inboxes, but beyond that. Under Sync Settings, there is only a check box for Email.
Sorry, just not seeing any manual Sync other than what I have described above. Sync is set to once per hour.

Ah. Wrong place I was. Done.

Still not showing up online. Somehow I need to link/sync the Microsoft Account with the Backup Assistant Plus that is also listed in the E-mail+Account settings. The Backup Assistant is a Verizon offering to save phone contacts. When I enter a contact into the phone, it goes here. They must NOT be linked together.

Am I to enter it and somehow specify to save it in my Hotmail/Outlook contacts? Odd.

Don't know honestly. I don't own a Verizon phone. I was just giving you the basic WP8 method. Leave to a carrier to mess things up. Check the contacts and see if you can specify where you want it.

Windows and syncing have been the bane of my existence with their products. The only single thing I miss about iOS. Apple does this right.

Has a Solution Been Found to this yet?
I just realized I lost about 200 contacts after factory resetting my nokia lumia a week ago (running WP8). And yea like you said manual contact entries made in phone don't show up online on Hotmail.com. However entries made on the web do appear on the phone contact list.

I suddenly feel un.excited about the windows phone 8.1 update. In fear of losing more contacts. This is some major glitch

Ahm….. https://discussions.apple.com/message/23444199#23444199 and many similar on MacRumours Forum. I am frustrated with my iPhone 5 that cannot and does not sync via USB nor does iCloud work right. I spent the past two weeks sorting out the mess that iCloud created and even lost essential notes, contacts and calendar entries. I am not alone, just visit Apple forums and see for yourself. Sorry for bursting your bubble!

Paid apps that seems to work fairly well is found at http://www.companionlink.com I am going to return to Windows laptop-wise and then use that or http://www.akruto.com. I hope this helps and also busts the "Apple is better" myth.

I have never had any problem with contact sync. The OP's issue is with Verizon's carrier installed backup software. Anytime you create a new contact or calendar events, you get to choose which account it should be created in. In OP's case, it was created in Verizon's BackupAssistant account, not Outlook account.

The phone itself does not have local contacts storage. It has to be created in one of the cloud accounts.
