Taking Motorsport Pictures

How do i take a good picture from my Lumia1020? I watch bike racing and my pictures don't seem that good for what my camera can apparently do. I have seen cracking pictures and videos from other 1020s but mine seem distorted and not sharp. My dads galaxy s5 takes better clearer pictures. What am i doing wrong?

Are you tracking the object in motion, or holding the camera still?
The grid may help you track better.

As for camera settings, manually bumping the ISO up higher lets the exposure time drop, reducing blur (usually)

Beyond that, seeing some pictures would help.
