The BDC died. I have a single PDC left. It's running on Windows 2008 R2. The BDC that died was also on Windows 2008 R2.
I created a new Windows 2012 R2 server and tried to promote it to a BDC, but I got a message that the domain fuctionality must be raised.
I loaded Active Directory Domains and trauts and raised it from 2003 to 2008R2. No problem, but I had no option to change the forect Functionality. I am both a domain Admin and an Enterprise Admin
I tried to fix it with LDP, but the info I got from searching, seems to apply to later versions as they don't work on 2008. I tried Powereshell but again the documents all seem to related to later versions because they all fail.
I;ve been on this for a week alreasy there are NO other DCs NO windows 2000 or 2003 DCs. AD works fine DCDiag no errors I just have to change the forestFunctionality from 0 to 4 and no one seems to have a clue how to do it.
