I am having a call to arms. Mod team its time to stop the thread crapping. I am done with these 8 to 10 people who insist on crapping on otherwise healthy threads.

Perfect Example:

Inteller is crapping in this thread. Start with public warnings we want the community to know we are on this BS it will be stopped. These guys think its funny to turn these threads into arguments. It will be stopped. Accelerate to warnings then infractions for trolling if the person doesn't stop.

Roger that

Addendum: I was just thinking, a lot of forums close threads after they are answered. It seems like threads that go beyond getting their answer start to go off topic and end up in arguments. Just a thought.

I was already on the agenda to stop thread crapping. Good to know more of an effort will be made.

We don't need to be closing discussions simply because the original question was answered. And it's fine for discussions to stray a bit. It's a discussion.

I understand what you're saying, it makes sense. I just thought I'd toss the idea out there since that's when I see a lot of thread crapping. Like this thread: http://forums.windowscentral.com/marketplace-apps/210654-3.htm which is simply asking when instagram is coming to WP8

Things like this start to happen: http://forums.windowscentral.com/marketplace-apps/210654-3.htm#post1838755

I don't use twitter, lol it's stupid blah blah blah

This is becoming a bigger problem since the introduction of the MN passport. Its not a bunch of people its just a handful that think they need to try to "Stop the fanboyism" to quote one of them. Its the same members with the same content derailing threads over and over. Threads will meander off topic that's is to be expected. When contributing members get off topic in a natural thread turn we will let it go but when the select few crap a thread with there troll fodder stop it. That's when we end up with the same arguments over and over again started in thread after thread by the same people.

We shouldn't ever close a thread that can be saved. Its only when a thread gets so full of arguments and infighting that it can't be cleaned up and still make sense.

To old threads or questions that have been answered let's leave those opened.

LOL! I just had one use the term, "WPMonkeys".

Duvi is this happening at Crackberry? Have you seen an increase in this type of activity?

I can affirm that this has already happened at Crackberry. I rarely visit that site anymore, since it's been bad for at least 6 months.

I 100% believe that these are people who come here with an agenda to derail threads and cause issues. If you see it happen read back through that members posts and see if you can develop a pattern. The biggest group of these people are easy to follow because they get their post reported often by the community. We need to keep this from getting to the reported stage. I also 100% believe that threads that turn into wars keep people from joining the forum. When people see a thread where members are attacking each other they either move on without joining or they join in on the argument. I think the numbers 9-1 nine move on one joins we need to revers this or get it 10-0. I know we cant be everywhere so lets watch the trending threads and keep an eye open for the select few. We can break this trend if we make sure people like Byzantium and inteller see we are on top their shenanigans hopefully they will back off.

You're spot on with that Dave. There were Palm forums I never joined because the forums were out of control.

Lets keep in mind we are not trying to run these people out of the forum. What we need to do is be in control of their posting patterns in attempt to keep them from causing issues. If a forum rule is broken we will deal with it in the traditional fashion. If you are not sure about a post or situation let me know I will take a look.

Here is an example for you.

Pay attention to the last line. He has to discredit everything its in his nature. Ask yourself why did he need to add that? Was it just an observation he made? I don't know for sure what he is trying to do but I do know through statements he has made in the past that he is here to criticize Windows Phone. I think he failed this time to cause an issue but he will keep trying. Right now he knows I am watching him so his comments will be subtle for a while.

I think it's time for him to be banned because look at how much he's derailing this thread:

I already banned him before over this and it looks like he hasn't learned.

Easy with that big ban hammer there big boy...lol

I love this guy he keeps me straight. I always let things go to far and Eric likes to shorten the time line. What I want to do here is keep these guys from having a chance to get out of hand. That way threads stay clean and we don't need to ban anyone. That guy has already moved on because he knows he is wrong. I deleted the offending posts and the thread is back on track. Laura has already posted in the thread so he most likely wont return to continue the argument. Watch for violations of the forums rules if he brakes them then ban him. Make sure he has broken a rule you can quote because he will protest the ban

Careful on deleting threads that aren't pro-Windows Phones. I don't see any problem with some of the posts removed from the iOS vs. WP8 discussion.
But you guys know the personalities better than I do, so there may be more than meets the eye.

We don't want to come across as if we won't allow contrary opinions. Moderating too heavy handed can be just as unappealing as not moderating enough.
It's a balancing act.

I don't know if it's our job to keep a discussion on track but rather keep it civil and within the rules. You guys do a great job in here but some discussions are fluid and can change directions or expand. It's just the nature of the beast.
