Thread crapping stops today

Careful on deleting threads that aren't pro-Windows Phones. I don't see any problem with some of the posts removed from the iOS vs. WP8 discussion.
But you guys know the personalities better than I do, so there may be more than meets the eye.

Who said anything about removing threads that aren't pro WP? Its not an issue with the content of a particular post George its a pattern of behavior that is causing issues in this forum. These guys are trolling and thread crapping on a regular basis.

We don't want to come across as if we won't allow contrary opinions. Moderating too heavy handed can be just as unappealing as not moderating enough.
It's a balancing act.

Agree with this completely.

I don't know if it's our job to keep a discussion on track but rather keep it civil and within the rules. You guys do a great job in here but some discussions are fluid and can change directions or expand. It's just the nature of the beast.

Again we want to stop regular trouble makers from ruining otherwise healthy conversations. I am open to suggestions on how to handle this. Should we just allow the same people to derail threads into arguments because they walk a fine line within the forums rules? We do have rules against Trolling and Thread crapping this is what these guys are doing.

We shouldn't let people disrupt the forums but if there posts are within the rules, I think we have to let it stand. Part of enforcing the rules is being fair and consistent. If they are breaking the rules, issue an infraction, delete the post and eventually ban them (unless the violation justifies immediate banning).

As I said, you guys are more familiar with the personalities at hand but if you have a questionable personality posting something within the rules do you delete it because who posted it or leave it be because of the content?

I always let conversations run their course as long as everyone was civil. They could disagree, question each other, have topics change in mid-stream and be as stubborn as mules. But when the discussion turned into personal attacks, then we stepped in. I wish these type discussions were as clear cut as spam posts but they aren't.

I've just been spending more time in the forums... saw the "thread crapping" which was a new phrase for me... and thought I'd offer my two cents. Didn't mean to cause any issues.

In the iPhone thread I deleted the post because they were not fare to the OP it totally threw his thread off track. The content and the way in which it was posted. No infractions were handed out. This type of post is common for this forum member and he needs to be watched. We don't want him scaring off new members with his negative attacks. If he starts his own thread about this content no one would have any issue with it.

George we love you man... We all have the same goal in mind. If you see anything you don't agree with PM me and we will touch base. The end game is a happy healthy growing forum. I don't have all the answers but I will keep throwing things at the wall until something sticks. Thanks for your contributions in the forum we can always use your guidance.
